Cutting their teeth on the Dublin-London-Belfast gig axis, the much-travelled members that make of the Popgun Plot have witnessed a lot, and listened to lots of music.
Led by chief songman Martin Burns, who also has a hand in the running of Dublin’s Flaming June records (which not surprisingly this album is out on), this self-titled item is chock-full of biscuit tin-fresh, story-telling guitar pop, delivering just enough interesting chord changes and sitting-room homeliness along the way.
Despite lyrics about real life historical figures and their tragic tales– as well as ordinary people and their own tragicomedy tales– the music of the Popgun Plot comes across as oddly jolly. Also released on vinyl, click here to find out more.
