Tips for 2013– Cloaka

Having guested on Mark Cunliffe’s Dandelion Radio show back in the autumn and with a brand new EP just out on Four40 records London’s Cloaka is setting himself up well for a rather exciting 2013. Listening to his tunes got me thinking (and not for the first time), wouldn’t it be pretty good if we had someone like Cloaka appear on the increasingly predictable and overly studied Jools Holland show? The nearest that show veered a little off its usual course was the time when ME Smith of The Fall played a continuous note on a keyboard as Jools tried to introduce the next act over the top of it. Anyway, where was I?

Mark says: “watch out for Cloaka, had him in session doing a mix in October, think he’s ace….” Cloaka plays a sort of lo-slung, sample-friendly brand of house/bass music otherwise classified as future garage. I can hear elements of grime here too. His Don’t I Know You EP is out now and widely available via iTunes. Download his ‘Lace’ below.
